Special Veterans Day Film, “They Shall Not Grow Old”.
Tuesday, November 11/2:30pm.
In honor of Veterans Day, the Lakewood History Museum will host a special free showing of the film “They Shall Not Grow Old”. This acclaimed World War I documentary was commissioned by the British Imperial War Museum and features original never before seen World War I footage that has been colorized and digitally transformed to meet modern production standards. Spearheading this amazing process was none other then the legendary Peter Jackson director of the “The Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings”.
The finished film received universal acclaim from reviews and critics. Variety called the film a “technical dazzler”. Others said “the faces are unforgettable, like ghosts returning from the dead”.
This truly amazing film runs 99 minutes and is Rated R for wartime violence. Jackson insisted on colorizing the film because the soldiers saw the war in color, not in black and white. “Absolutely everyone should see this film”, the Daily Mail.
Seating is on a first come basis. Light refreshments will be served. Following the film attendees will participate in a talk back and a free prize drawing for a $25 Applebee’s Gift Certificate. Doors open at 2:30 pm, film shows at 3:00 pm. Museum is located at 6114 Motor Ave SW. Questions? You can leave a message 24/7 at 253-682-3480.
