Workforce Training Grant Opportunities for Pierce County Businesses

Businesses in Pierce County have access to funding designed to support employee training, workforce development, and long-term retention. These programs help employers stay competitive by investing in the skills and growth of their teams.

Through the Washington State Job Skills Program, eligible businesses may receive funding to offset the cost of training and development programs tailored to their workforce needs.

Program Overview

The program provides reimbursement-based funding to support customized employee training. Depending on the size of the business, employers contribute a portion of the training costs, with the remaining amount covered by the program.

  • Funding Amount: Up to approximately $30,000 per business (varies by project scope)
  • Cost Share Requirement: 10%, 25%, or 50% employer match, based on company size
  • Structure: Reimbursement-based (not an upfront grant)
  • Purpose: Workforce training, skill development, and employee retention

How It Works

Businesses partner with an approved training provider—often a local college such as Clover Park Technical College or Tacoma Community College—to develop a customized training plan.

Once approved, the program helps cover eligible training costs after the training has been completed.

Key Benefits

  • Strengthen employee skills and productivity
  • Improve retention and reduce turnover
  • Support business growth and operational efficiency
