Pierce Transit is the public transportation agency serving most of Pierce County and is headquartered in Lakewood. S ince beginning service in 1979, it has provided local bus routes, paratransit services, vanpools, rideshare programs, and on-demand transportation throughout the county.
Pierce Transit helps connect residents to jobs, schools, medical appointments, shopping, and regional transportation systems. Its services include:

Lakewood is a major hub for the agency. The headquarters is located at 3701 96th Street SW, and the city is home to the important transit hub known as Lakewood Transit Center. One of Pierce Transit’s unique services is the JBLM Runner, an on-demand transportation option connecting riders between Lakewood and parts of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This service helps military personnel, civilian employees, and visitors travel without needing a personal vehicle.
