Scott Jonson is a longtime community and nonprofit professional based in the South Sound region of Washington, with decades of experience in tourism, business networking, communications, and chamber leadership.

Originally from Port Townsend, Washington, Jonson pursued higher education at Western Washington University before continuing studies at Bates Technical College and Tacoma Community College.

He began his professional career in customer service and retail management before moving into the tourism and hospitality sector in Tacoma. Jonson spent more than a decade with Travel Tacoma, formerly known as the Tacoma Regional Visitor & Convention Bureau. During his tenure from 1989 through 2003, he advanced through multiple leadership and technical roles, including Convention Services Manager, Publications Manager, Network System Administrator, and Website Manager. His work combined event coordination, marketing communications, technology management, and visitor outreach during an important growth period for Tacoma tourism.

Since joining the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce in 2005, Jonson has helped support and strengthen the organization’s role within the South Sound business community. Through his work in chamber operations, communications, event coordination, and member relations, he has help build meaningful connections throughout the Tacoma and Lakewood area.

Over the course of his career, Jonson has combined experience in tourism, technology, marketing, and nonprofit administration with a strong commitment to community service. His longtime involvement in regional organizations reflects a passion for supporting local business growth, fostering professional relationships, and contributing to the continued development of Pierce County and the greater South Sound region.
